Dr. Aaron M. Pokorny
Dr. Aaron M. Pokorny was born and raised in Metro Detroit, and graduated from Troy High School. He attended Michigan State University where he obtained a bachelors of science in Medical Technology in 2001. Dr. Pokorny then attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, and was inducted into the OKU honors society in 2005. Following dental school, Dr. Pokorny entered a 6 year residency program for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Louisville. While at Louisville, Dr. Pokorny was awarded a medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and completed a full year of residency in General Surgery.
Dr. Pokorny is a third generation dentist who has followed in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps as a part time clinical instructor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. He is also an associate professor at the Oakland University William H Beaumont School of Medicine through the Department of Surgery. Dr. Pokorny is a fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and is a member of The American Dental Association, The American Medical Association, and the Academy of Osseointegration (dental implant society). Dr. Pokorny is very active in local charitable organizations and events including Donated Dental, Tri-County Dental, Give Kids a Smile, and Mission of Mercy. He is very active in the training of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents, and has hospital privileges at Crittenton, Royal Oak Beaumont, DMC Siani-Grace, St. John, and DMC Children’s Hospitals.
Dr. Pokorny’s professional interests include full facial trauma, facial reconstruction, anesthesia, dental implant surgery and bone regeneration. Dr. Pokorny is happily married to his wife Monica who was raised in Rochester Hills. Dr. Pokorny enjoys spending time with his three children, sailing, and skiing.
